About the Event
On this course we will be looking at everything multipitch.... We will visit various multipitch climbing venues (mountain crags, sea cliffs etc) and spend the 5 days getting lots of climbing done, as well as learning the skills that we need for multipitch climbing.
Subjects that may be covered include:
- Belays, how to attach to them and how to build them
- Tying into the rope and keeping ourselves safe on multipitch territory
- Route finding and following
- Rope management and knots... and how to get out of tangles!
- Abseiling/ Multiple Abseils from a route
- Self Rescue on/from a crag
Depending on the expereience and learning rate of the week, we can also cover learning to lead climb multipitch routes.
The course ratio is 2:1 so there is a large amount of client:instructor time so you are sure to gain a lot of new knowledge, experience and enthusiasm!
We will spend 5 full days out in the hills (9-4/5pm) so you will need everything for a day out (Waterproofs, warm layers, food and drinnk) You will also need your own roick climbing shoes. I can provide harnesses and helmets if you do not own these, but it always best to climb in your own gear if you have it.
The exact location of the course will be decided nearer the time when we have a forecast, but we will meet in the Siabod Cafe at 9am on the first day of the course to discuss the plans for the week.
This course is suitable for anyone who has done some rock climbing outside and is also suitable for those of you who have done some multipitch but are a little rusty or fancy upskilling and gaining for confidence in your ability to multipitch climb!
Accommodation is not included.
