women's climbing Events 2021

Run by Alice Kerr Mountaineering, these weekends have been funded by the Charitable Work Funding of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors, funded itself by the Alpkit Foundation.

The Climbing Weekends cost between £20 and £100 per day to attend and present a wonderful opportunity for people to get out on the rock.

My aim is to get more women out rock climbing!

Broken into 2 halves, events will be based in Snowdonia or the Lake District, working in small groups and have opportunities for both beginners and experienced climbers. There is a particular drive to get new mothers out climbing, whether it is a re-introduction after a break, or a new sport for you.  (Please don't worry if you aren't a new mother, everyone is more than welcome!)

You can come to either day, or both! Be sure to read the information below before booking as one day may suit your experience better.

The events consist of:

Intro to Outdoor Rock Climbing – Relaxed, beginner friendly rock climbing. Come along and have a go at climbing outside! We will go to a venue with something for all abilities, so don’t worry if you’ve never been before. On this day, you will learn more about movement on rock, as well as some rope skills. Although they won’t be able to climb, you are very welcome to bring children along, there will be plenty of people to watch them whilst you climb! Limited to 8 people. No prior experience needed (you do not need to have climbed indoors or outdoors). Climbing kit can be supplied.

Mulitpitch Climbing – For the slightly more experienced climber; a day of multi pitch adventure! Heading to a larger crag, we will go for a fantastic day out on some wonderful North Walian rock faces! During this day, you will learn more about multi-pitch climbing and all the techniques associated with it. You will need to apply for this to make sure you have the necessary experience (some outdoor climbing)– limited to 4 people per Sunday. Before booking, send me a short email outlining your climbing experience and why you’d like to come along to one of these days (alicecharlottekerr@gmail.com)

Intro to Leading Traditional Rock Climbing - A day spent at a low learner to instructor ratio, with just 4 people, this course looks at: Gear placement, anchor building, rope work, belay skills, leading a route, and much more. If you've done some sport climbing or seconded trad climbs and would like to start learning about leading, then this is the course for you!

Indoor Leading Courses - These are 1 or 2 day courses where we cover everything to do with Indoor Climbing - take a look at the event info to see what is covered. No experience needed.

The events are filling up very quickly this coming year, so make sure you book your place with plenty of time to avoid missing out!

If the event page says "Registration is Closed", the event is Sold Out, but please message me if you would like a place on a course because I can put more dates on!
