Cuillin traverse
Come out and experience the UK's most exhilarating and awe inspiring mountainous traverse, taking in the entire 12km rocky and technical ridge of the Black Cuillin on the Isle of Skye. The Ridge undulates above 700m, boasts 11 Munros and a total height gain of more than 4000m. A fantastic fusion of walking, mountaineering and rock climbing spread over 2 days and an overnight bivvy on the ridge.
Overview
The Cuillin Ridge is a grand and ambitious undertaking. It requires a good level of hill fitness and previous experience scrambling. You do not need roped climbing skills, but do need to be able to complete 2 long and physically demanding days, with an overnight bivvy on the ridge. Please ask if you are unsure about your experience.

Over the 2 days, you will carry all the kit you need (approximately 10kg bag). A kit list can be found HERE
You can book Cuillin Preparation days in Snowdonia - these can help feel ready for the traverse, or see if it's the right thing for you (Pop me a message to chat about these)
Booking Info
All Cuillin Traverses are private bookings made to suit you. Whilst a normal booking is 3 days long (2 days on the traverse and a rest day), you can make longer bookings.

In 2024, I will be on Skye in May and June, so bookings with myself are limited to then, but you can still book a traverse in other months, but you will have a different guide.
​
Ratio
​
Traverses are booked as either 1:1 or 2:1 (2 clients:1 guide). Pair bookings should be made with 2 people who already know each other.
​
Please enquire if you are set on the idea of a single day traverse - this is an enormous and serious undertaking and requires a very high level of fitness and plenty of scrambling experience.
Prices
Costs are based on a 3 day booking; the traverse will happen during the best 2 day weather window. If the weather is too poor for a full traverse, we will head out for 3 individual days instead.
Bookings are not cancelled for poor weather. Accommodation and food are not included in the cost.

You can book additional days at the start or end of your booking to allow for more climbing, or a day to carry and stash kit on the ridge to save carrying Bivvy kit on the traverse. Enquire about this if you would like to.
Mountaineering/Climbing on Skye
Skye has so much to offer on top of the Cuillin Traverse!
​
The Island is full of exciting walks, scrambles and climbs that we can head out and do together. You can chose your objective, or we can chat through all the fab options that are on offer.
​
Some examples that are popular are: the Inaccessible Pinnacle, the Clach Glas Traverse on Bla Bheinn, the Red Cuillin and the Cioch, as well as lots of rock climbing.
Overview
As well as the Cuillin Ridge, the Isle of Skye is full of other inspiring days out in the mountains.
Whether you are bagging Munros, want to do part of the Cuillin Ridge, have your eyes on the famous Clach Glas Traverse, or any other objective on Skye, you can book yourself on to a guided trip.

It's not all climbing and mountaineering; there are also plenty of awe inspiring walks that you can do - they don't all need a rope!
​
As many days as you would like to, we can head out into the hills in search of great experiences.

Prices
A day of Guided Climbing or Mountaineering on Skye is:
£300

This is based on a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio with the guide.

Prices for a day on Skye are higher than the normal rate for a day as the days are longer and more serious, requiring more planning and expertise.
​
Please enquire if you have a larger group you would like to book in - this can be accommodated but will require multiple guides.

Running on Skye
There are lots of exciting and challenging runs that can be done on Skye. From venturing onto the Cuillin Ridge, to Bla Bheinn or the Red Cuillin, as well some beautiful coastal trails, there are plenty of fantastic options on Skye for a runner.
Overview
Running on the Isle of Skye requires a good level of hill running fitness, as well as experience running on technical terrain.
​
The trails on Skye are steep and rocky, and can be loose and uneven; to best enjoy the day(s) you would be happy running on this sort of terrain already.
​
You should be comfortable being out for the day running in the hills carrying everything that you need.
​
We can, if appropriate, incorporate easy scrambling into the days, but this decision will be made by me depending on the skill of the clients and the weather.
