About the Event

Women's Climbing Weekends have a wonderfully simple aim : to get more women out rock climbing! They are social and inclusive weekends for anyone who identifies as a women to come along and climb, chat, eat, camp and learn

This weekends and course is for anyone who would like to try rock climbing outside! You are welcome to come if you have never been climbing; any experience level is welcomed. We will spend 3 days at different rock climbing venues; climbing, chatting, getting some movement coaching, learning a bit about how to be independent climbing, eating and socialising. The course is open for just 14 women, so it is a small and inclusive course.

Accommodation at the wonderful  CRASHPAD LODGE is included for Friday (4pm onwards), Saturday and Sunday night in the cost of the course.  An Off-Grid, Eco Lodge, this is an amazing spot, tucked in at the bottom of Snowdon. The whole course will be run from here and the evenings will give plenty of time for socialising, eating, and relaxing in between days of climbing. Access to the Lodge is by car until ~1km from the Lodge, after which you park and the rest of the way is on foot or in a sturdy 4 x 4 vehicle. Click on the Lodge name above to see full details about the accommodation.  More information about the logistics will be sent out closer to the date of the course.

Content we will cover on the Climbing Course:

- Guide books - where to go and how to find your routes

- Climbing Kit - Harnesses etc - What do we need and how does it work?

- Belaying

- Climbing!

- How to trust your feet

- Abseiling

- Confidence in yourself

- Movement coaching

- Sport and Trad climbing - what's the difference?

- 'Rigging' a climb (taking a rope and putting it up so you and others can climb a route)

The course is run at a 1:7 ratio! So you get plenty of instructor time.

You will all need to bring:

- Suitable shoes for walking on uneven ground (boots or trainers)

- Water proof trousers and jacket

- Warm layers

- Suitable clothes to be outside and active in for 2 days

- Food and drink for the days climbing

- Rock climbing shoes (get in touch if you don't have any/can't buy or borrow some)

You will all need, but can borrow at no extra cost:

I will bring ropes and a climbing rack, but please do bring yours along if you have one!

Things to have for accommodation:

- Shoes to walk around the Lodge

- Comfy clothes for the evenings (no smart clothes are needed!)

- Food for your dinners in the Lodge - there is a self catering kitchen for you to cook in. I will make a Whatsapp group beforehand so that people can liase about food if they would like to. We will do a "Bring a Dish" dinner on the Saturday night and al eat together then, but Friday and Sunday you will cater for yourself(ves). I will provide more info about this nearer the time.

These coures are designed to be relaxing and informative. We will meet at CRASHPAD LODGE at 9am on each day, before heading out into the hills to find a good crag for learning :)  If anyone is wishing to travel by train, get in touch well before the course so we can arrange getting you to Crashpad Lodge.
